Background

Naushawng Education Network (NSEN) was founded on April 9th, 2009, by a group of Kachin scholars who graduated from international universities, in order to play our part in the development of Myanmar.

Naushawng understands that strong civil societies play a crucial role in promoting democracy and community development in a country such as Myanmar, where the activities of military rule have turned a resource-rich land into one of the poorest countries in the world. Despite Myanmar’s transition to a democratic civilian government, many challenges lay ahead.

If this fragile transition is to be sustainable in bringing about economic development and social welfare, Myanmar needs immediate improvement in all sectors, especially human resources. Naushawng was created to tackle this issue.
